Villanelle for Arizona
Hello! I am so sad that I didn't push myself to write and share more in the first half of the year. This Summer I might try to write something every week? If that's even possible for me?
Anyways, here's something I wrote about a month ago based on a painting that my friend made. I had been thinking a lot about the interconnected nature of the universe; how you and I are made of the same stardust that each and all are made of. I realized that if I cannot live without the support of the matter around me, and even my consciousness depends on its stimulus, then I am not just my body. Really I am all the things that add or subtract themselves from me. And if you extend that logic out far enough... really I am everything?
Idk lol xD
VILLANELLE FOR ARIZONA
I wade the creek and watch nature rehearse:
The fish and birds all twirl in nature's dance
To the song of the living universe.
The music feels ablaze enough to grasp--
A pocket of existence's vivid joy.
I wade the creek and watch nature rehearse.
My splashing adds percussion to their verse.
What wonder of my life it is to join
The joyous truth of living universe!
These creatures beat a future from the past,
And whirl--unfurl their atoms--thunder fast.
I wade the creek and watch nature rehearse.
What was I if this form was not the first?
A river running conscious for a glance.
Around we whirl, the living universe.
Together we're complete, divinely perched
In an ancient tune. Never built to last.
I wade the creek and watch nature rehearse.
I, too, dance with the living universe.
We are all the living universe thank you for sharing
